March is "Arts & Culture" month at Westfield Santa Anita's Family Fun Days! Kids will learn about famous artists and their mistakes, making art more accessible. On 3/8, there will be story time "The Magical Garden of Monet" by Laurence Anholt, a book about a chance meeting with Monet. "Beautiful Oops" by Barney Saltzberg follows suit, teaching children that it’s okay to make a mistake, especially where art is concerned. Kids will then tap into their own creativity & create a beautiful tissue-paper flower & enjoy a snack.

Children are invited to visit the Library to read animal-related short stories of their choice to dogs from the Pasadena Humane Society Companion Animal Program. Not only does this make reading more fun, it also builds a child's confidence in reading aloud. Also, the available books will help children realize that animals experience a range of emotions similar to their own and that they have basic needs too. This will, in turn, encourage them to appreciate the importance of treating all animals with respect and kindness.
