Congratulations to Allison R and Marne C, our winners for the Nutcracker Tea Contest!!

"Mom, when is it going to be Christmas?" This is the question I have been getting daily from my 4-year-old. At his age the holidays are all centered around what toys or candy he would like to get. As he is my oldest I am trying to find ways to make him grasp and appreciate the other aspects of our holidays.

Thankfully we have a holiday coming up that is not about what we want to receive, but to appreciate what we already have. Now, I just have to find a way to make him excited about that. I really enjoyed the words of wisdom offered by Vicki from Institute of Girls Development and am not only excited to share them with you, but to try out all of her tips on my own kids. I'm also excited to share Tracy Wu's tips on making mealtime fun. We have two picky eaters at our house and mealtime is often a struggle for us.  Be sure to read the article and enter to win your own copy of Eat, Baby, Eat! We're also giving away two family four packs to the Big Top. That's right Circus Vargas is coming to our neighborhood (Santa Anita in Arcadia) with the new animal free circus and our lucky subscribers will have a couple chances to win tickets over the next few weeks.

The stores have been decking their halls for weeks now (and most people think it's a little too early from some of the feedback I've seen) and I'm trying to grasp what happened to 2011. I can't believe our year is nearing an end and that the holiday season is upon us. We know as parents this is a busy time of year for everyone, but we really hope you'll join us December 1 for the launch event for our first ever Best Of edition. Readers have been sending in tips on their favorite local places (there is still time to submit if you haven't sent us your hidden gems yet) and we're excited to celebrate. I know I'm really looking forward to meeting our subscribers and hearing what you love about Macaroni Kid Pasadena.

I am so thankful for the opportunity to be a resource for so many local families (our subscriber base is over 1400 and growing every day)!

Sincerely,

Faith Mellinger
