DS Energy Solutions Helps Pasadena Families

Pasadena Offers Rebates Among Highest in the Nation

By DS Energy Solutions January 26, 2012

DS Energy Solutions has launched a new program that can reduce your family electric bill and protect the environment.

The company is helping Pasadenans to take advantage of the solar rebates available through the Pasadena Solar Initiative sponsored by Pasadena Water & Power (PWP). Currently these rebates are among the highest in the nation.

“Unlike other solar companies who simply install solar systems,” said DS Energy Solutions CEO Scott Mazzola, “We make the home or building more efficient first, and then right-size the solar system to create the lowest cost and best payback scenario for our clients.”

The company first surveys the home, analyzes its electrical usage, and determines the potential energy savings. Next, they complete a cost analysis at no charge to determine which energy upgrades are most advantageous to the client, using PWP rebates. For those who would like to have a FREE home evaluation please call 866.381.5838 to schedule an appointment and see how you can save.

With the client go-ahead, the company then performs the upgrades, tests the home for its energy efficiency, and establishes a rating through the state’s Home Energy Rating System (HERS). At the same time, the company designs a solar system to handle the electricity needs of the now-efficient home, secures the PWP rebate for it, processes the paperwork and the permits, and provides the appropriate financing. Typical financing is a lease plan with low monthly payments and no money out of pocket.

After the solar equipment is installed, tested and operating, DS Energy Solutions completes its Quality Assurance Check, and provides an energy monitoring system called EcoDog® so residents can see how much energy various appliances are using and reduce their usage even further.

City Councilmember Chris Holden’s family will soon enjoy the combined benefits of energy efficiency upgrades and solar energy in their Pasadena home. “Melanie and I were pleased to find out how easy the process is and how much we will save on our electric bill,” he said. “I’d like to encourage all Pasadena residents to take advantage of the PWP rebates.”

PWP is committed to helping its customers install 14 megawatts of solar power by 2017. The Initiative will advance the City of Pasadena's renewables goals outlined in its Green City Action Plan, www.cityofpasadena.net/GreenCity as well as the state goal of installing 3000 MW of solar  by 2016. With one of the best utility rebate incentives in the nation, reimbursement of city permit fees, plus the new 30 % federal tax credit on home installations, Pasadenans can harness the power of the sun as never before.

More than 200 Southern California homes are now more efficient and comfortable and enjoying drastic savings on their energy bills as a result of DS Energy Solutions’ services. In addition, the company has installed solar systems at a variety of commercial buildings including school districts, office buildings, and medical buildings. The company is licensed by the California Home Energy Rating System (HERS) and the Building Performance Institute, and holds a Class B general contractor license. www.DSEnergySolutions.com
