Kids In The Kitchen Health Parade

By Junior League of Pasadena, Inc. April 5, 2012
The Junior League of Pasadena invites children to march their way to a healthy lifestyle! On Saturday, April 14 from 1 to 3pm, children of all ages and their caretakers will participate in the League’s fourth annual Kids in the Kitchen event, the Health Parade, at Madison Elementary School in Pasadena. Participants will learn how to prepare nutritious snacks with an exciting twist, and find out how to make fitness fun. All activities are free.

Junior League volunteers will lead children along a parade route through an array of hands-on activities, games and healthy snacks. At each stop they will discover something new about implementing a healthy lifestyle, from simple, do-it-at-home yoga exercises to recipes that incorporate affordable and nutritious ingredients.
Participants will have the opportunity to try new foods that are tasty and health-conscious, like produce-infused water, fruit parfait and tofu tacos. There will be prizes and giveaways along the route.

In its fourth year in Pasadena, the Kids in the Kitchen program is an ongoing initiative of The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. designed to address the growing childhood obesity epidemic. Junior League chapters in more than 200 locations across the country provide lessons and demonstrations related to fitness and preparation of healthy meals and snacks in partnership with local community organizations, chefs and fitness professionals.
