Publisher's Note: Celebrate Earth Day

By Faith Mellinger, Editor/Co-Publisher April 17, 2014
One of my favorite days of the year is Earth Day (April 22)! Our planet needs our help to stay awesome and this is one day set aside to recognize that. Teaching our kids about protecting our planet is so important - and this time of year there are so many fun ways to do that. Some easy ideas include getting outside to enjoy nature, hosting a beach clean up, teaching water conservation or taking advatage of the season and planting your own garden. Earth day is also a great time to take a look at the carbon footprint your family is making - we were curious so we took a little look at how we might make our own power. With summer around the corner I'm already dreading our electricity bill but going solar also sounds so expensive so I wanted to get a few answers on where to start and how affordable it is for the average homeowner family.

I can tell spring is here by all the amazing events coming our way. This is the perfect time of year to experience new adventures with the family! Our calendar is filling with awesome events - a lot of them completely free - for you to enjoy. We live in an amazing area with a lot of hidden treasures that are around everyday and we look forward to featuring some of those this summer. There are egg hunts this weekend, an open house at the Pasadena Bunny Museum (yep this museum residence is one of those hidden treasures right in our backyard) and so many summer camps are starting to take registrations.

Joyce and I would like to thank so many of you for sharing us with your friends. We have over 2,200 weekly subscribers and counting. You are what encourage us to bring an amazing newsletter full of fun to your inbox every week - thanks for reading!

Enjoy,
Faith
