Anyone who has tried to help grandma join a family zoom call knows the process isn’t always easy, especially if you aren’t all that tech savvy yourself. So who better to help than the group that seems to know technology best - the teens!
In the winter of 2019 two local teenagers, Christian and Caroline, created ITeens. While originally their venture included visiting senior centers, when the pandemic shut these down, they found seniors needed more help than ever. This was now our most vulnerable population, one who didn’t grow up with the technology everyone is currently using to connect. Many seniors have been left struggling at home (often alone) to figure out how to Facetime cousin Jimmy or how to get the sound to work on Zoom. ITeens knew they could help.
Quickly they realized the struggle with technology in a world quickly thrust into staying at home was hitting the whole community, not just our seniors. They’ve expanded their services, and now have a separate hotline offering FREE support to teachers, parents and students as they struggle with the technology challenges that distance learning may have created. With assistance on everything from how to make a slideshow to how to navigate through google suite they are using their tech knowledge to make everyone’s online experience a bit smoother.
From everyday tutorials to expand your knowledge and creativity with your electronic device, or learning how to take advantage of today's technologies to carry out your tasks, they have it covered. You can join them every Saturday (from 10:30-11:30 am.) during their regular help session to participate in their FREE tutorials. Just fill out their interest form and they will email the link to each session (for security the session link and password changes each week).
In an effort to do their part in making the world a better place they offer all services for FREE, as a service to the community.
