Super Easy Homemade Brownies

Ingredients:
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1 oz unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ¾ cup flour
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa   powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • About ½ cup of your favorite toppings (ideas include pecans, coconut, almonds, chocolate chips, powdered sugar)

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F

2. Place butter and unsweetened chocolate together in a small bowl and microwave on medium power until melted or soft enough to mix together.

3. In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, eggs, milk, and vanilla until incorporated then blend in the butter & chocolate mixture with an electric mixer.

4. Measure out the flour in a large measuring cup, adding cocoa powder atop it (do the math together with school age children: ¾ + ¼ = 1 cup).  Then add salt and baking powder and stir all together in the measuring cup. Pour the dry ingredients mixture into the mixing bowl.

5. Blend all ingredients together until smooth. You’ll notice the batter lighten in color as air is beaten into it.

6. Liberally spray a baking pan with oil. Pour batter into pan and smooth the top with a rubber spatula.

7. Let the kids add the toppings, as little hands do this better.

8. Bake until done, per the toothpick test; about 35 to 40 minutes.
