At B’nai Simcha, we embrace an experiential, play-based approach to learning. Inspired by best practices and theories in early childhood education, including the work of Vygotsky and Piaget, we adhere to developmentally appropriate guidelines that support the whole child.
We strive to create an environment where children can make sense of their world through exploration, manipulation, and play with a variety of materials, toys, and creative experiences. Literacy is a cornerstone of this exploration as children engage in reading, storytelling, drawing, painting, and other expressive activities.
Our goal is to nurture independent, critical thinkers who develop empathy for others. We encourage curiosity by responding to children’s inquiries with open-ended questions and supporting them in sharing their ideas with peers. Active, engaged learning is at the heart of our curriculum, with educators working at the children’s level—modeling, narrating, and guiding their overall development.
As a Jewish preschool, we seek to foster a strong sense of Jewish pride. Our families reflect a broad spectrum of observance and connection to Jewish life, and we celebrate this diversity by teaching children to embrace differences, learn from one another, and find joy in shared experiences.
Each week, we gather for Shabbat Sing and Shabbat celebrations, where children sing traditional prayers and build meaningful connections to Jewish traditions. Daily, we recite blessings like Hamotzi before meals, and as we move through the year, we celebrate and enrich the children’s understanding of Jewish holidays. Families are always encouraged to join in our celebrations and become active participants in our vibrant community.
