Scooby-Doo, where are you?

Why in the LEGO aisle of course...

To say my boys love LEGO is an understatement. We have a whole room dedicated to LEGO (and even daddy has been found playing with the plastic bricks). We have a bit of LEGO overload at our house so when my youngest son fell and broke his arm daddy sent me for some LEGO to cheer him up. It just happened to be the same day a box of the new Scooby-Doo LEGO sets showed up for us to review. We'll just say Scooby-Doo quickly put a smile on my little guys face and provided hours of the quiet play his arm needed.

Three boys and five boxes of Scooby-Doo LEGO proved to be a great combo for this wild house. After a minor surgery on my 4-year-olds left arm the doctor said the hard part is over. I assured him he didn't have to go home and keep 3 wild boys from getting too crazy while the youngest waited for about 10 days before they casted his arm. The hard part had just begun.

Thankfully hours of black, purple, blue and yellow plastic with picture books full of directions kept these crazy kids entertained. Once the boxes of pieces were transformed into a Haunted Mansion, Mummy Museum and more they provided even more hours of play as the kids set out on their own LEGO ghost hunting missions. The Mystery Machine and the gang even joined us on a few adventures as we played with them while out to dinner, in the doctors office waiting room and just about everywhere we've gone lately.

With a summer full of fun I have to say I'm ready to pack up a lot of the toys I have to keep picking up around the house. But the LEGOs will never go. Even my husband still has a great time playing with them and it's something him and the boys enjoy doing together. They require manipulation, following instructions, imagination and more. Also, the sets can all go together even if they have different themes - we may have even had a Ninjago ninja invasion of the Mystery Machine - don't worry no Scooby's were hurt during this experiment.
