You're Stuffed: Now What?

By Faith Mellinger, Editor/Co-publisher November 24, 2011

With three children under the age of 5 I've been planning more than the Thanksgiving menu, like how to keep the kids occupied all day during meal prep and during after dinner adult conversations. My oldest isn't a fan of crafts so this means I have to be a little more crafty with planned activities. Here are 5 activities I came up with to keep my little turkeys entertained:

  • Gather the toy catalogs and have the little ones circle the items they want to add to their Christmas lists (Bonus if they can also write a letter to Santa)
  • Get out the Christmas Tree (for those with an artificial tree, my firefighter husband knows its way too early for a real tree in the house) and have the kids begin the decorating
  • Let them gather the bedding and create a fort, for some reason playing in a tent adds a whole new realm
  • Give them something they are responsible for: setting the table, making a centerpiece, mashing potatos...having a task like everyone else makes them feel a part of the party

How do you keep your kids active?
