Leap Year: What To Do With An "Extra Day"

By Faith Mellinger February 23, 2012

If only I had more time! Every day I wish I had an extra hour, every week an extra day. Here it is, finally what every mom's been wishing for. It comes only once every four years - Leap Year! So here are a few ideas for what to do with your bonus time:

Take a Hike: Enjoy the outdoors with your little one's. There are so many amazing outdoor locations to explore right here in the San Gabriel Mountains. A favorite of our family is Monrovia Canyon Park. We've done it a few times with the whole family and even our 2 year old has made the trek to the waterfall.

Spa Time For Mom: It's an extra day so try to find time in it for mom. Even if you can't get away to the spa - run a bubble bath, give yourself a pedicure, enjoy a glass of wine...whatever you enjoy to relax make time for it today.

Get Your Taxes Done: April 15 is only 52 days away, so if you've been putting off gathering the tax paperwork, or tallying up the mileage for write-off there is no better time than the present to get started.

Print Your Photos: So many of us have 1,000s of photos on our digital files, but nothing to show for it. Spend today printing a few of your faves and making a photobook to enjoy with friends and family.

ReOrganize the Playroom: Consignment season has started and it's the perfect time to get a jump on spring cleaning.

Throw All the Errands Aside and Make it a Playday: You won't miss 24 hours that you didn't have last year so make the most of it. Build a fort in the living room, take the kids to the park, go bowling. Make it a "yes" day and let the kids choose the activity.
