Southern California Children’s Museum second annual Touch-a-Truck event takes place Saturday, September 20 at Santa Anita Park from 9a.m.-2 p.m.
Designed for families with children under the age of eight, Touch-a-Truck drives imagination by bringing to life a child’s favorite toy truck or tractor, and putting him/her in the driver’s seat. Children can climb, touch, honk, and pretend to drive a variety of large trucks, heavy machinery, emergency and recreational vehicles.
Presented by Advantage Ford Lincoln, Touch-a-Truck features full-sized earth movers, dump trucks, cement mixers, garbage trucks and more – along with special guests like Herbie the Love Bug and The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile! Young children, and those with sensitive ears, will appreciate the new “Horn-Free” hour from 9:00am – 10:00am.
“We are delighted to bring back this highly successful event that elated droves of Southern California girls and boys last year,” said Catherine Welch, founder and president of the Museum. “This 100-percent hands-on exhibit enables kids to be the actual driver of their favorite big truck and experience the thrill of being behind the wheel. Touch-a-Truck embodies the type of interactive and play-based experiences families will find at the Southern California Children’s Museum when we open our doors this fall.”
Back by popular demand are the Beach Ball Dump and Cozy Coupe Carwash. Goodie bags will be available while supplies last. Food and drinks, including pizza, hot dogs, water, shave-ice, and more will be available for purchase. With plans to top last year’s 1,600-person attendance, the 2014 Touch-a-Truck likely will be one of this year’s most popular local family events.
