Crafts with Kids: Fancy Plastic Gem Rings
Make Some Fun, Sparkly Specialness at Little to No Cost

Do you know those little   plastic pull-tabs that come on the top of liquid grocery items, such as   coffee creamer, vinegar, and olive oil?Next time you get one, rinse it off and save it.  They come in various sizes, and most are   perfect for either an adult-sized or child-size costume ring.  Once you have a few saved up, gather some   craft products (plastic gems, tiny faux flowers, teeny toy animals, whatever fun   trinkets you have available) and get ready for an easy, fun craft just in   time for Valentine’s Day.  Use glue   dots instead of liquid glue to avoid drying time and enjoy your new baubles immediately!   Best for ages 3 through 10.

Supplies:
  • plastic   pull-tabs in various sizes
  • extra-strong   glue dots
  • scissors
  • skewer or nail
  • craft   embellishments, such as:
    • plastic gems
    • tiny faux flowers
    • plastic letters
    • pom-poms
    • felt   or craft foam shapes
    • teeny toy animals

Instructions:
  1. Wash pull tabs with soap and water and dry   thoroughly.
  2. Gather tiny treasures from your craft   supplies stash or around your home.Arrange the assortment on your workspace, along with glue dots, the   pull-tabs, and any other creative supplies you choose to use.
  3. Carefully affix a glue dot on the tab part   of the pull-tab.  You may want to cut   it in half or use a skewer or a nail to stretch the glue dot out.
  4. Attach your favorite embellishment,   covering all of the glue.
  5. If you like, parents or older children can use   scissors to trim the edges of the tab, so it doesn’t stick out from behind   the adornments.
  6. Model your new rings as if you are the   fairest in the land!
